IF THERE WAS ANY DOUBT.

-54.

Just when you thought maybe this around-the-world thing might not be the best idea--after all their are still Christmas lights to be taken down, a basement to clean, a cat to feed, walks to be shoveled, freedom to be restored to the republic and world to be saved--you stumble across the latest weather forecast. (a/k/a, "guess") It is a balmy 10 degrees this morning, a veritable moment for sunbathing given what is to come. Tomorrow morning as we are on that plane headed to Kauai, Hawaii, the temperature with wind chill will hit -54 (ok, for you purists, it will be -24 without the wind). Of course, over the next two days that follow it will get all the way "up" to -1.  The God of "get me out of Dodge" has spoken unequivocally and with a rare clarity of purpose, don't you think.
So, no matter how reluctant we might have been, these birds are headed West until we return to what of course will be a tropical February in Wisconsin.

  1. The comforts of home always tug at those about to depart for the unknown. But, what the hell, hit the 'eject' button. Otherwise park your camper under the canopy at UW Health.

  2. Hawaii sounds quite awesome as I am stranded in an Indianapolis hotel room (though it sounds quite awesome about 99% of the time, even without bouts with the weather).
