The Grand Canyon of the Pacific?

A Trip Down Memory Lane.

We all do it, don't we?  You know, that moment you look at something unequivocally new. That stunning sight revered by all, touted as the next biggest thing since The Monkeys. A thing so fantasmagorical that once you've seen this your life will never be the same. Well.... the Grand Canyon of the Pacific--Waimei Canyon is not that sight. Cool, neat, spectacular and certainly worth visiting Kauai to see, but 'fantasmagorical'--Not.
All of which is to say we are having a hard time believing this place exists at all. Perfect temperature, perfect setting, friendly people and wonderful cabin on the ocean under the palms and trees known as "I don't have a clue what they are, but they sure are pretty."
Maybe it's just that everything here is so pleasing that, like New Zealand, at some point it is pure overload of stunningness. We should be so lucky. And today we go on a helicopter to visit Jurassic Park!
Back to the start, as we are in the age of proof, certainty and all things scientific, what proof do I have of how great things are without the long plane ride. How could one say such a thing?  Because living in America gives us the chance to see so many truly incredible natural wonders.  Here are pictures of the Black Canyon of The Gunnison in Colorado (a place I suspect not many of those reading this have ever seen because it was simply a "state" park until a few years ago outside of Grand Junction, Colorado), and a picture of Waimei Canyon and a picture near Moab Utah. Guess which is which?
